VICTORIA
We know many people may not know much about Victoria. The most common question we get is "where is that located?"
Victoria is located on Vancouver Island which is in the SouthWest most region of British Columbia. The slides below will give you a basic geography overview as well as some insight to the culture of each area.
THE NEED
While Victoria and Vancouver Island represent beautiful and desirable places to live, it is also a place in need of the Gospel.
Currently, Victoria is one of the most unchurched cities in all of North America.
Some have said that Vancouver Island is the second leading center for occult worship in the world and is a very dark place spiritually.
College students with spiritual questions or in need of spiritual guidance at the University of Victoria can go to the Interfaith center and meet with a Muslim Chaplain, a Buddhist Chaplain, a Hindu Chaplain, a Catholic Chaplain, a Mormon Chaplain, a Jehovah Witness Chaplain, an Anglican Chaplain, or a Baptist Chaplain.
There is an urgent need to develop incarnational churches all over Vancouver Island.
While in Victoria, we will be partnered with Canvas Church.
Noah will serve as the Worship Pastor- his primary roles in this position are to
-
equip the people of God to worship and glorify God with all of their lives

-
train up worship leaders throughout the church to be sent out.

In addition, we will be working with Canvas in their church planting efforts across Vancouver Island and beyond, praying and preparing to possibly plant a church from Canvas in the coming years. We will be actively involved in the community, sharing the gospel and working to make disciples throughout the greater Victoria area.
We are so excited to join the work that God has already been doing at Canvas Church under the leadership of Ashley Austin, Lead Pastor.
"what will you be doing?"
ABOUT CANVAS CHURCH
Ashley and his wife April began to sense a call from God in August 2011 to transition from the church they were serving in Biloxi, Mississippi to join God in introducing people to Jesus on Vancouver Island and planting life-giving, Jesus-focused, relationship-building, family-oriented, community-serving, faith-filled, prayer-consumed, and Spirit-led churches across the island.
In March 2013, Ashley, April, and their three boys made the faith-filled move from Biloxi, Mississippi to Victoria, BC. They spent their first year learning a new ministry context, building relationships, praying for the community, serving the city, and putting a team together.
Canvas started in the Austin living room in September 2013 with nine adults and six kids. The church began meeting publicly at the Westin Bear Mountain in January 2014. In 2017, Ashley and his wife April felt led to start a second campus, Canvas Oak Bay in the eastern part of the city.
Canvas and Canvas Oak Bay are both now incredible life-giving churches serving the people of greater Victoria.
